Job Description:
The Sul Ross State University Athletic Department internship will provide support with gameday operations, media, and public relations efforts for the SR Athletics’ 12 intercollegiate varsity teams.
Responsibilities:
  • Representation of Sul Ross State University and SR Athletics.
  • Gameday and Social Media Research.
  • Work with campus on game day marketing strategies and philosophies.
  • Creating new strategies to market and promote SR Athletics, includes halftime challenges.
  • Must work the SR Athletics booth at the Sully Showcase
  • Identify branding and selling of SR Athletics apparel.
  • Willingness to perform required manual labor, including lifting, carrying, prolonged periods of standing and walking, and following through with minimal direction.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director and/or the Director of Athletics.
Qualifications:
  • Must be enrolled and attending Sul Ross State University.
  • The desired interest to work in the sport industry, specifically collegiate athletics.
  • Interns must have basic customer service and communication skills as each will need to communicate with the public effectively.
  • Should be aware of the urgency of specific projects and the importance that their deadlines are met.
  • Social media and graphic design skills are a plus.
  • The ability to use Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, etc.), NCAA Live Stats, and Statcrew software are a plus.

Achievements

In the Atheltic Department of Sul Ross State University, I learned various skills that will help me with what I want to achieve when I graduate. I learned Event Planning, Game Day Operations, Managing & Filing and many more. For Event Planning I helped, Set/Supervise the Hall of Honor Galla, Athletics' Banquet. Creating a nice scenery and a comfortable enviroment for our guest.  I also learned Game Day Operations for Basketball, Baseball, and Softball games by setting and hosting games.  I also learned how to create and read various spreadsheets, so I can communicate effectively to management. Learned the skills of Time Management, Communication, Leadership and Problem Solving.
